Description
This self-paced digital lesson on using FOIL is a powerful way to differentiate for your students. An added bonus is the ease of use! Simply upload it in Google Classroom and then do what you love, teach students!
The lesson should take most students about an hour to complete. There’s a lot of practice throughout and the concepts and procedures are scaffolded for students as they progress through the lesson.
This lesson has been used in public school classrooms by Algebra 1 students. Students find the lesson engaging and useful because it helps them understand how to use FOIL.
This lesson would be great remediation for students that should already know how to multiply binomials but are really getting stuck with factoring quadratic expressions!
This lesson is written in Google Slides (but can be converted to a PDF or PowerPoint easily). Students will open their own copy of the document and then work their way through the lesson, slide-by-slide. Each slide has some action they must take that helps them practice using what they’re learning. When they’re done, they submit the lesson through Google Classroom just like an assignment. You can easily see what they’ve done and be informed on progress and understanding, and assign a point value if you wish.
If you’ve never used a lesson like this, here’s a short walk-through video.
With this download, you will receive a PDF file with a link to download your own copy of the Google Slides presentation.
In the video below you can see what the lesson looks like, and what students will be using to learn.
